ADDITIVA Vitamin C 1000 mg

Vitamins and minerals are the spark plugs for the metabolism: without them, nothing happens. And because they are so important, they are needed daily.

ADDITIVA Vitamin C - 1000 mg effervescent tablets

Medicinal product containing 1000 g vitamin C in two fruity flavours, Blood Orange and Lemon, for the treatment of vitamin C deficiency diseases (e.g. scurvy).

What are the functions of vitamin C? / Quality and product safety

Vitamin C is neither generated nor stored in the body. And yet the vitamin is required for the entire metabolism and is also involved in complex enzyme activities in the body. Because of its important role in activating the metabolism, converting nutrients into energy for the body and its involvement in numerous enzymatic processes, vitamin C is essential for important functions in the body, including maintaining the immune system. It is a well-known fact that if the body is deficient in vitamin C it is unable to synthesise strong connective tissue, as demonstrated in the days when sailors contracted scurvy. Vitamin C is also important for the uptake of iron.

With the varied diet available nowadays, with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, vitamin C deficiency should no longer occur. Unless…

Fruit and vegetables are not tolerated or people don’t like eating them for other reasons

Fruit and vegetables have not been correctly handled (stored or cooked for too long)

Increased vitamin C requirements can’t be met by fruit and vegetables alone

Time and again there are situations in which vitamin C intake from the diet is inadequate or in which there is an increased vitamin C requirement, e.g. in older people due to changes in their eating habits, in smokers due to the raised oxidative stress, or in athletes due to their greater need for micronutrients. Vitamin C deficiency can also arise as a result of severe physical illness, such as chronic infections, cachexia or gastrointestinal disorders with impaired absorption of vitamin C.

When vitamin C deficiency occurs, it is treated with medication, i.e. with vitamin C.

ADDITIVA Vitamin C is a medicinal product which is used in the treatment of vitamin C deficiency in adults.
